Tina Ashiofu (she/her) M.C.
Tina Ashiofu is a Registered Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and specialized experience in psychological assessments. She believes that every person’s story is unique, and that understanding that story through careful and compassionate assessment is the first step toward meaningful support and growth.
Her career has intentionally included a wide range of experiences, which has shaped her empathetic and well-rounded approach. She has worked with adults in homeless shelters, supported individuals dealing with addiction and trauma using harm-reduction approaches, and provided crisis support in high-needs settings. These experiences taught her the importance of listening closely, seeing the person beyond their symptoms, and understanding how environment, mental health, and behavior are connected.
This background directly supports her current area of focus. As a Psychologist with the Calgary Board of Education, she specialized in psychological assessments for trauma, personality and mood disorders, and psychoeducational assessments for ADHD and ASD. She works to understand people’s needs through careful observation, consultation, and review of background information. Her strength is conducting thorough assessments and turning complex cognitive, emotional, and behavioral information into clear, practical diagnostic reports.
Her approach is integrative and collaborative. In her private practice and in previous roles with Alberta Health Services’ Early Psychosis Intervention program, she has developed strong skills in combining information from standardized testing, clinical interviews, and team input to form accurate diagnoses. This allows treatment plans to be evidence-based and tailored to the individual, whether supporting a child with a learning disability or a youth experiencing psychosis.
At the core of her work is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Her role in assessment, consultation, or therapy is to guide and support you. Through clear and thorough assessment, she helps make sense of challenges, reducing confusion and stress by identifying patterns to work together on. She collaborates with students, clients, families, and educators to create practical strategies, effective interventions, and supportive environments that build resilience.
She looks forward to working together to understand concerns, develop tools, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
