Types of Assessments

ADHD Assessments

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, organization, impulse control, and emotional regulation across the lifespan. Many adults seek assessment later in life after experiencing ongoing difficulties at work, in relationships, or with daily functioning, often without a clear understanding of the underlying cause. Adult ADHD can look different from childhood presentations, and a comprehensive assessment involves a detailed clinical interview, review of developmental history, and the use of validated screening tools. An accurate assessment can provide clarity, guide appropriate support and treatment, and help individuals better understand their experiences and needs.

Gifted Assessments

Giftedness refers to significantly advanced intellectual abilities and learning potential compared to same age peers. Some children and adolescents demonstrate advanced reasoning, rapid learning, and a strong need for intellectual challenge, which may not always be fully supported in standard classroom settings. A gifted assessment involves a focused evaluation of cognitive abilities using standardized measures and clinical interpretation. An accurate assessment can help clarify a child’s learning profile, guide appropriate educational placement or enrichment opportunities, and support advocacy within school settings.

Psychoeducational Assessments

At our clinic we provide comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. These evaluations are designed to give a detailed understanding of learning strengths, cognitive abilities, academic skills, and emotional or behavioral factors that may impact learning and daily functioning.
Psychoeducational assessments evaluate how an individual learns and performs compared to age expected norms. They involve a focused evaluation using standardized cognitive and academic measures combined with clinical interpretation. An accurate assessment can clarify a learning profile, identify areas of strength and challenge, guide appropriate educational planning or accommodations, and support advocacy within school or workplace settings.

Mental Health Assessments

A Mental Health Assessment provides a comprehensive psychological evaluation to help individuals and families better understand emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. It supports clarity, validation, and informed decision making about treatment, supports, and next steps. These assessments can guide access to appropriate therapeutic services, accommodations when needed, and coordinated care, helping individuals move forward with greater understanding, support, and confidence

Motor Vehicle Assessments (MVA)

A Motor Vehicle Accident Psychological Assessment provides a focused psychological evaluation to understand the emotional, cognitive, and functional impact of being involved in a motor vehicle accident. These assessments support clarity around accident related psychological symptoms and their effects on daily functioning, work, and recovery. The results can help guide treatment planning, support recommendations, and communication with insurers, legal professionals, or other care providers, allowing individuals to move forward with appropriate support and a clearer path to recovery.

Parenting Psychological Assessment

A Parenting Psychological Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of a parent’s capacity to meet the emotional, psychological, and developmental needs of their child or children. These assessments are often requested in legal or court related contexts when there are questions about parenting capacity, safety, or support needs. The assessment provides clear, objective information to support decision making in the best interest of the child.

Practice Note 7 (PN7) Interventions

PN7 Interventions are Court-ordered, limited-scope services used in Family Law cases involving high-conflict parenting situations. These interventions help the Court better understand what is occurring within the family system and the child’s experiences when families are at an impasse. PN7 services provide objective, focused information to support informed decision-making, without offering opinions on custody or parenting arrangements.

Practice Note 8 (PN8) Child Custody and Parenting Evaluations

PN8 Child Custody and Parenting Evaluations are comprehensive, Court-ordered assessments used in Family Law cases when parents are unable to resolve parenting disputes and more informal interventions are not appropriate or have been unsuccessful. These evaluations provide the Court with detailed, impartial information to support decisions about parenting arrangements in the best interests of the child(ren).
