Motor Vehicle Accident Psychological Assessments

At our clinic, we provide Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Psychological Assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. These evaluations are designed to clarify the psychological, emotional, and cognitive impact of a motor vehicle accident. The goal is to provide insight, documentation, and guidance for recovery, treatment planning, or legal purposes.

For individuals, an MVA psychological assessment can clarify symptoms, validate experiences, and guide access to therapy or support.
For families, it can provide insight into how best to support recovery.

For legal or insurance purposes, it provides documentation to inform decisions, claims, or proceedings.

Common Areas Assessed in an MVA Psychological Evaluation

●     Emotional well-being, including stress, anxiety, and mood changes

●     Cognitive functioning such as attention, memory, or concentration

●     Behavioral responses and coping strategies

●     Daily living activities and functional abilities impacted by psychological factors

Recovery progress and rehabilitation needs

Why Consider an MVA Psychological Assessment

You may consider an MVA psychological assessment if you:

●     Experience persistent emotional distress after a motor vehicle accident

●     Notice changes in mood, irritability, or anxiety

●     Have difficulty returning to work, school, or daily routines

●     Need documentation for insurance, legal, or compensation purposes

Want a clear understanding of your psychological recovery and support needs

What to Expect

An MVA psychological assessment is a structured evaluation tailored to your situation. The main steps include:

1. Clinical Interview
A conversation with the individual and, when appropriate, parents or caregivers to review symptoms, history, and concerns.

2. Testing Administration
Completion of standardized questionnaires and measures tailored to the specific concerns or referral questions.

3. Scoring and Report Writing
Integration of all information into a detailed report, including findings, recommendations, and documentation for legal or insurance purposes.

4. Feedback and Results Session
A session to review assessment results, provide recommendations for therapy or support, and outline next steps.

All MVA psychological assessments are conducted in a professional, trauma-informed, and confidential manner, ensuring the process is clear, supportive, and tailored to your needs.

MVA Assessment and Coverage

To begin, contact your auto insurance or Extended Health Benefits provider to confirm coverage for psychological support related to a motor vehicle accident. Some insurers may require a doctor’s note recommending psychological care, which can be sent to us at hello@centerstreetpsychology.com for assistance. Once coverage is confirmed, we will schedule your initial assessment with one of our psychologists, after which a formal report will be prepared and sent to your insurer.
