Maryam Abro (she/her) M.C.

Maryam Abro (she/her) is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in the Province of Alberta. She provides counselling services to children ages 6 and up, adolescents, and adults through both in-person sessions in Calgary and virtual sessions across Alberta.  She has worked in a variety of settings over the past 5 years, supporting individuals across different stages of life. Maryam is passionate about walking alongside clients in a collaborative way, helping them uncover strength, resilience, and hope in their healing journey.

Her professional experience spans private practice, school systems, and community-based mental health work. She uses compassion, authenticity, and emotional safety as the foundation of her work, and believes humour (when invited) can be a powerful bridge for connection. Maryam understands that unresolved pain, distress, and trauma can only be explored in a safe, nonjudgmental space — and she is dedicated to creating that environment for every client she works with.

Maryam draws on an integrative and evidence-based approach, tailoring therapy to meet each client where they are. She has training and experience with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She values flexibility in her practice, ensuring each client feels seen, respected, and supported in a way that matches their needs and readiness.

Outside of work, Maryam enjoys spending time with her children, staying active, and getting lost in creative outlets that spark joy. She loves boxing, high intensity exercises, unwinding with good music, and sharing laughter with close friends. With a strong belief in advocacy and community, Maryam sees her work as a privilege — one that allows her to walk alongside others as they find healing and growth.
