Vanessa Rae (she/her) M.C.

Vanessa Rae (she/her) is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. She provides counselling services to pre-teens, adolescents, and adults, offering both individual and couples/relationship therapy.

Vanessa holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and has completed specialized training in EMDR and Advanced Flash Technique. In 2023, she received training in Neural Desensitization and Integration. She has also completed Gottman Method Levels I and II, which inform her work with couples, and has additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for self-harm and suicidality.

Her approach is eclectic and collaborative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based practices, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Attachment Theory, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR/Flash). Vanessa integrates these modalities thoughtfully, tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual or couple.

Her calling to this work is rooted in lived experience. One of the most transformative moments in her own healing came through a psychologist who created a space where she felt safe and deeply understood. That experience of compassionate, attuned care planted a seed that now defines her work: to offer others that same sense of safety and connection.

In her therapy room, clients will not encounter a sterile or distant clinical environment. Vanessa does not believe in observing from behind a professional veil. Instead, she shows up as a human first - present, engaged, and authentic. Together with her clients, she engages in meaningful, courageous work grounded in warmth, honesty, and moments of lightness.

Outside of her professional life, Vanessa is a mother and a partner - roles that keep her grounded and remind her daily of the importance of connection and love. She finds joy in traveling, yoga, hiking, and meditation. These practices bring her balance and naturally shape the way she holds space for clients each day.
