Mary-Anne Williams (she/her) M.C.

Mary-Anne (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. She offers counselling and therapy to adults, with a particular interest in supporting individuals navigating complex life experiences and cultural transitions. Mary-Anne has worked in diverse settings including Mosaic Primary Care Network, where she provided mental health support to immigrants and refugees, and Alberta Health Services, where she served clients in rural communities. Before entering psychology, she taught children across the K-12 spectrum in Calgary, Beirut, and Philadelphia, and worked as a Medical Illustrator at the University of Toronto and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Having lived and worked in multiple countries and cultures, Mary-Anne brings a deep appreciation for the ways in which culture, opportunity, and systemic factors shape mental health and personal identity. She is especially attuned to the nuanced balance required to help people from varied backgrounds, orientations, and life paths discover meaning, direction, and a stronger sense of self. Mary-Anne’s academic journey includes a BFA in Painting and Drawing, a BSc in Medical Illustration, a Master’s in Education, and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. She integrates multiple evidence-based approaches in her practice, with a strong emphasis on the connection between physical and mental well-being.

Her therapeutic toolkit includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and meditation practices, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and clinical hypnosis. She places particular importance on understanding how early developmental experiences influence one’s sense of self, relationships, and worldview. Mary-Anne is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive space where clients can build greater self-awareness, process difficult experiences, and move toward their full potential. Her goal is to walk alongside each person as they uncover strengths, reframe unhelpful patterns, and pursue meaningful change

In her free time, Mary-Anne is passionate about physical fitness, volunteers in her community, and continues to study languages.
