Nicarla Ellis (she/her)

Nicarla Ellis (she/her) is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in the province of Alberta. She provides individual services to children (10 years and older), youth, and adults.  Nicarla has worked in the mental health sector for over 15 years, working with youth in the justice and children’s services systems, providing support to caregivers of children and youth with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder, and developing a mentorship program to support youth at-risk of justice involvement.

Nicarla holds a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, as well as bachelor’s degrees in psychology and criminology. She has been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Grounded in respect-focused and person-centered values, Nicarla takes an eclectic approach that incorporates different therapeutic modalities, including solution-focused therapy (SFT), mindfulness, existentialism, and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Nicarla tailors each session to the unique needs and goals of her clients, drawing on their existing strengths to foster resilience, self-awareness, and meaningful change. With a warm and collaborative approach, she helps individuals build on what’s already working as they navigate stress, heal from past experiences, and strengthen their relationships.

When she’s not working, Nicarla finds joy in reading, swimming, camping, cozy movie nights, and sharing plenty of kitty cuddles with her cat, Moxie—simple pleasures that help her stay grounded and bring balance to her life.
