Dr. Sandra Dame (she/her)


Dr. Sandra L. Dame (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. She possesses more than 30 years of experience and uses her knowledge and training to assist people of all ages and genders (individuals, families, and couples) in understanding their unique potential to change their life experiences by challenging how they think, feel and behave.

Dr. Dame was born and raised in Calgary and has spent most of her adult life living and working here. Early on she developed a keen interest in problem solving, human relationships, and the dynamics of power. As a result, she dedicated herself to assisting others in improving their personal lives and their interpersonal relationships.

Dr. Dame has an undergraduate degree in psychology and a Master’s Degree in couples and family therapy. On top of these, she also holds a Ph.D. in general psychology. For her dissertation, she explored how training elementary school teachers about anxiety in childhood could help teachers develop a better understanding of their anxious students.

Dr. Dame takes an integrative approach to therapy drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities including systemic approaches like interventive interviewing, solution-focused therapy (SFT), narrative therapy (NT), as well as cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), collaborative problem solving, and mindfulness.

In her free time, Dr. Dame enjoys spending time with her partner, children, and grandchildren, as well as reading, cooking, and walking her dogs.

Areas of Practice:

ADHD, addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, grief, and relationships. Specific areas of interest for Dr. Dame include challenges associated with aging, men’s issues, and terminal illness counselling.
